Here in the United States, there is the general misconception that vodka is just a flavorless addition, good only for making something alcoholic that otherwise wouldn’t be. This does absolutely no justice to the history of vodka and to the myriad of subtle differences that defines the spirit.

What does it mean to be a Great Bartender?
I am not a great bartender. Really, I’ve told people this before plenty of times. I am impatient, absentminded, opinionated (but only about things that nobody else cares about) and when I don’t want to talk to a person, it’s written all over my face. I am not a good bartender. However, I am aContinue reading “What does it mean to be a Great Bartender?”

A Comprehensive Guide to the Martini Part 1: History
You cannot separate the martini from it’s history. Here, I explore the origins of the martini and how it made its long journey to the drink we know today.

Lux: Like Gangsta’s Paradise… but with Hipsters
For those that are unaware, there are three distinct ‘foodie’ personalities in the greater Phoenix area: West side, Scottsdale, and downtown. The west side is a different animal.Continue reading “Lux: Like Gangsta’s Paradise… but with Hipsters”
Cuff: About damn time!
So several months ago, Tyler recommended this cool little place in Old Town Glendale that we absolutely had to go to because they had a good looking charcuterie board and as you may or may not know; I’m a total cheese whore. Well, I promptly went there on a date with Floyd since it wasContinue reading “Cuff: About damn time!”
Revolu: Thank goodness for strangers…
On the recommendation of a couple of complete strangers who meandered into the bar this past week, yesterday I decided to drag Floyd on over to this new restaurant in Peoria (such a good sport, suffering through all these delicious meals with me). Now obviously I was excited to try somewhere new, but more so IContinue reading “Revolu: Thank goodness for strangers…”
Megan Campbell: An Origin Story?
A personal note from Megan Campbell; distiller, writer, teacher, student, and drinker.
How did we get Here?
My name is Megan Campbell; I’m the course coordinator and head mixologist over at Lucidi distilling co. The titles are mostly made up for now, but I think it still counts. When I first started bartending about 2 years ago it was a steep upward climb. I didn’t start drinking until after I was 21 andContinue reading “How did we get Here?”
